Poverty Rate
The poverty rate is the percent of the population that is living in poverty. These data capture the share of population that does not earn enough income to afford the most basic necessities, things such as shelter and food. The Federal Poverty Level Guidelines determine these poverty income levels based on the number of family members in the household.
