According to the US Census Bureau, median household income includes income of the householder and all other people 15 years and older in the household, whether or not they are related to the householder. The median household income is the level that divides the household income distribution into halves. In other words, one-half of the households income levels are above the median and the other half are households with income levels below the median. Rising median household income is associated improving standards of living, and the distribution of household income complements this indicator of measuring how households are faring.
